What a brilliant bargain! The whole series plus the film, shame Richard Beckinsale was not in the feature film but none the less, it was a good laugh. My mother has Alzheimers and cannot concentrate on most tv but this had her splitting her sides with laughter and she kept saying how good it was! Highly recommended for lovers of good old fashioned humour.

British comedy at its very best. a well presented dvd collection, the only down side is the poor film version of the tv series.

How understated a talent was Leonard Rossiter? Get this classic collection & find out. His strength was in his ability to create a completely believable character, who despite sharing common prejudices of the period (nowadays unacceptable) becomes a personality loved by all who see this enchanting 1970's comedy drama. The series was actually instrumental in exposing the flaws & stupidity inherent in racist beliefs of the time, not that this would jump out at you to spoil the fun of what is essentially a great situation comedy first & foremost (unlike the earlier & arguably shallow "Love Thy Neighbour" series). Rising Damp neither preaches nor annoys, with the cracking comedic content always standing proud of the social politics of the time (and yes, it WAS just like that). Rossiter was the purest & best of the many comedy actors from this period, and younger viewers who come across this series for the first time will understand this when the belly laughs come afresh despite a gap of 35 odd years. Along with Rossiter, Frances De La Tour and Richard Beckinsale do everything to make this a memorable & essential collection.
