I first watched this on VHS when i was only 17 and it was powerful stuff then. Some years on the storyline and characters still stick with me. It's a powerfully portrayed saga following a family line from Africa to the first free black slaves. It really opens your eyes to the atrocities caused to these people.
Very strongly character driven drama which still stands the test of time.

Met someone from the mandinka tribe just had to rewatch roots. Had not realised they had done a remake.

it was a wonderfull story on tv it was wonderfull to see again even my familey have watched it .thanks for refreshing old memories
